Director’s Notes
Hello and welcome back to Pipe Plaza! November is proving to be a quiet month, and a chilly one at that as well. I do have some sad news, Alex95 (talk) is resigning from New Articles, and as such this one is his last section. If you would like to write New Articles, or any of our other vacant spots: Upcoming Games, UPDate or Birthday Wishes, feel free to send Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) a message.

Monthly Report
Written by Paper Yoshi (talk)
Hi, everyone, and welcome to yet another issue of Monthly Report!! There's nothing new around these parts, so let's check the current wiki stats, which will then be compared to the ones from October!
(Credit goes to Stooben Rooben (talk), Super Mario Bros. (talk), and Viper26 (talk) for the table coding (I based this on Stooben's coding, which was later modified by SMB, myself, and Viper26 when each one of us wrote this section)

Tip of the Month
When you reference the title of something in an article, you need to format it correctly. Names of characters (Mario, Peach, etc.) don't have to be formatted. Just link to the page the first time you use them. Names of publications or games (Nintendo Power, Super Mario Bros., etc) should be italicized. You can easily put something in italics by typing two apostrophes in front of and behind the word/s you want to be in italics. Make sure, though, that you don't use quotation marks instead of two apostrophes. Place the apostrophes before and after the brackets for a link or a hyperlink to another site. Your font change should be the first and last thing in the code. To put something in bold, use three apostrophes instead of two in front and after the desired word. You can also combine bold type and italics by using five apostrophes.

PROPOSER | SUMMARY | OUTCOME | DEADLINE |
Time Turner (talk) | Create or delete categories about an area's citizens. A proposal to decide if we should create categories other than :Category:Rogueport Denizens and :Category:Glitzville Denizens for others areas of RPG games or if we should delete the two existing categories. The proposer argues that it seems rather inconsistent for these two areas, densely populated as they are, to be the only ones to group an area's characters together. |

Reboot (talk) | Move Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Wario (series) pages to * (franchise) and retool. A proposal to move Yoshi (series), Donkey Kong (series) and Wario (series) to Yoshi (franchise), Donkey Kong (franchise) and Wario (franchise) respectively. The proposer argues that the commonality between them is that they feature the named character, usually in the title, being motley mixes of platformers, puzzles and "other". In addition, there are a bunch of series-within-these-series (including Wario) that get their own pages with nigh-identical content based on a subset of the page. |

3D Player 2010 (talk) | Change the rules of BJAODN. A proposal to change five rules of BJAODN. The proposer argues that this could allow funnier things to happen and if necessary, implement a rule similar to the Userspace policy where excessive BJAODN editing is a warnable offense. |

Reboot (talk) | Prohibit the use of {{color}}, {{color-link}}, {{color-link}} and {{Color-link-external}} other than for legibility reasons. A proposal to prohibit the use of four templates ({{color}}, {{color-link}}, {{color-link}} and {{Color-link-external}}) other than for legibility reasons. The proposer argues that the only valid use of these templates should be where the default text color would be hard to read against a background. |

PROPOSER | SUMMARY | OUTCOME | DEADLINE |
RickTommy (talk) | Add lists of implied species from franchises other than Pokémon. A proposal to decide if we should remove the "List of implied Pokémon" section or if we should add relevant sections for every other franchise. The proposer argues that we have a section for Pokémon that are mentioned in passing in SSB trophy descriptions, but not such sections for any other Super Smash Bros. franchise. |

Wildgoosespeeder (talk) | Coin Ring - Split Super Mario 64 (and DS) with Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World. A proposal to either move Super Mario 64 content into Water Ring or keep Coin Ring for Super Mario 64 but move Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World content to a different page. The proposer argues that the Super Mario 64 content should be moved to Water Ring because it comes from a Manta and the jet stream underwater. The proposer also argues that the coin rings in Super Mario 64 operate very differently than the coin rings in Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World, where in those two games, the Coin Ring gives the player five coins. |

Yoshi the Space Station Manager (talk) | Split Croacus rulers from List of implied characters. A proposal to split the Croacus rulers from list of implied characters. The proposer argues that the Croacuses are the former rulers of Floro Sapiens. Despite that the players only meets the fourth one, the other three are mentioned on portraits of them with their reign in Super Paper Mario. |

Shokora (talk) | Merge Mad Scienstein with Arewo Shitain-hakase. A proposal to merge Mad Scienstein with Arewo Shitain-hakase. The proposer argues that a three-part translation emerged, which translates the Wario interview seen on the official Japanese Wario Land 4 gamepage. According to the translation, Arewo Shitain-hakase confirmed himself to be Mad Scienstein. |

Time Turner (talk) | Retool Category:Children. A proposal to retool the category for young characters. The proposer argues that this category is being used for two groups of people: anyone whose parents have been seen or mentioned and anyone who looks particularly young, but this category also lists people who never had parents or characters that are too old to be called children. |

Ultimate Mr. L (talk) | Make an article for Giant Bowser of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. A proposal to create an article for Giant Bowser from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. The proposer argues that an article for Giant Luigi from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team already exists. The proposer also argues that he is called Giant Bowser in-game which is probably the only time he is officially named in this form. |

Mario jc (talk) | Merge Bouncy Mushroom with Mushroom Trampoline. A proposal to merge Bouncy Mushroom with Mushroom Trampoline. The proposer argues that since "Bouncy Mushroom" was an article with a conjectural name and "Mushroom Trampoline" is an article with an official name, the former should be merged with the officially named object, as both share the same basic function of "bouncing the player upwards". |

And that’d be it! A lot of pages made within the last month. Excellent! That’s what we want to see! Keep in mind the writing guidelines for new articles when you create a page. We don’t want any one-line articles, you hear? See you around!
Projects Seeking Contributors
G'day 'shroomers! On behalf of myself, I would like to welcome you to Projects Seeking Contributors, a monthly section which summarises the latest projects, collaborations and important discussions which concern the MarioWiki. All readers, regardless of experience or position within our community, are invited to share their opinions and valuable input on the following projects and discussions.
All projects are organised under three different headers, as presented below. Each header contains a neat table which provides the name of the topic concerned, with a brief summary of what that topic is about and what you can do to help. The sections are further split into projects being discussed on the wiki or the community's forum respectively.
Projects Seeking Contributors
The following are a selection of projects or special requests which are taking place on wiki talk pages. Please see this page for a complete list.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Help us upload and list any "Game Over" screenshots which are missing from the article. | |
The bat known as Minikyura, which accompanies the Kurokyura enemy from Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, should receive its own separate article. | |
Players of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are asked to double check how a described glitch is performed. Ideally it should also be added to the article's list. | |
A screenshot showing the use of SPD-Up in the game Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story has been requested. | |
Help us format the reception section of Paper Mario: Sticker Star with a proper table, as per MarioWiki:Reception and sales. | |
Help clarify the relationship between "Softnica" and "Pax Softnica". It has been requested that a user who is fluent in Japanese should provide a translation of several given webpages, which may contain information of assistance. | |
Help source better quality versions of several given images. Also, it has been suggested that Tetris DS be merged with the "List of references in video games" article. |
The following have been taken from the Wiki Collaborations forum board.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Recently, users have been gathering character and item description from the back of official trading card sets, which include Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy. Help us by reviewing the list of wanted descriptions, and post a comment with the description of any trading cards that you may own. | |
A translation has been requested for some "KC Deluxe" Japanese manga content. | |
Discuss how the Japanese publishing company "CoroCoro Comics" may be covered by the wiki, as well as a two volume Donkey Kong Country TV series manga. A translation of the content should also be conducted. | |
The Japanese Mario Encyclopedia may confirm some official names for those which are currently conjectural. Any users who own the book are asked to share the relevant pages, and translations where official names could potentially be found. | |
Individual world missions, such as those seen in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy, should be split into separate articles as per policy. Check out which missions still require an article, and help fulfill this goal. |
Discussions Seeking Input
The following are a selection of discussions on the wiki which are in need of input or clarification from other users. Please see this page for a complete list.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Discuss whether Clam and Clampy should share a single article. | |
Imagecategory-reminder |
Discuss the inclusion of further image category examples on this official reminder template. |
Help source the original article title "Power Throw" from the Wario series, which has since been moved to "Mega Toss" as seen in a more recent game appearance. | |
Assistance is requested to clarify how the "Mist" effect from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is triggered. | |
Provide input on whether the North American magazine line "Nintendo Force" is officially licensed by Nintendo, and whether it should receive an article. | |
Discuss whether a connection should be drawn between continuous "reptile" bosses within the Paper Mario series. | |
Discuss where an appropriate source may be found for the name of an unused Pixl from Super Paper Mario. | |
Give input about a reanalysis of the "Sources of love" information on the Pure Heart article. | |
Discuss whether the Shell Helmet article should be rewritten as a transformation of Mario ("Shell Mario"), rather than the conjecturally-named power up object. | |
It has been suggested that StreetPass Mii Plaza should be merged with List of references in video games and Nintendo 3DS. | |
Discuss whether Category:Super Mario Bros. 3 Species is necessary. | |
Help us find the correct Australian release date of Super Smash Bros. | |
Discuss how information about a secret "Challenge Mode" should covered as part of the game Wario's Woods. | |
It has been suggested that TOSE Software Co. may have developed Yoshi's Safari. Any users who can confirm this with a reliable source have been invited to respond to this discussion. |
The following have been taken from the Wiki Collaborations forum board.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Discuss whether the "conjectural text" template should be removed from all glitch pages, due to how rarely glitches are official named anyway. | |
Share your thoughts about having wiki articles which describe technical in-game concepts, such as "sequence breaking". | |
Discuss which individual subjects may be elibible for an individual article, rather than exclusively remaining on the "list of implied" pages. | |
A unique artwork of Yoshi has been discovered, although the physical source where the artwork comes from is currently unknown. Any users who may know where the artwork came from have been asked to post their input. |
Pinned Projects
These are long-running projects, areas of discussion or collaborations which are continuously being worked on towards achievement. They will feature in this section every month.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
The "Holy Grails" is a list of elusive article subjects, where information is extremely difficult to find. Please take a look at the list, and let us know if you are able to provide us with information on any of these subjects. | |
Check out this month's edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight. It brings attention to a small group of articles which need improvement. Each of the articles are normally taken from a different improvement category, such as rewriting an article or adding more images. So there is always something for everyone's interests and abilities. | |
Stubs are articles or sections which are currently too short due to missing information. We invite you to take a look at the category, and contribute content to any subjects that you may be familiar with. | |
Be sure to check the Proposals page (as well as any current talk page proposals) where you can vote for, and give your opinions on proposed changes to the wiki. Such as new policies and features, splits and merges of articles, and deletions. |
And that concludes a new edition of Projects Seeking Contributors. I hoped you enjoyed viewing the section. I want to know what you think of the design and arrangement in how projects are presented, so therefore I invite all readers to leave me feedback. You can send me a personal message, or simply fill out this form (external website). My goal is to continuously improve the section's presentation.
Thank you!

Poll Committee Discussion
Written by The Pyro Guy (talk)
Monty Python, you say? Sounds like a job for a Englishman, and it just so happens that I am also an Englishman. I guess that means I'm writing this one. So, ahem, welcome to the November edition of Poll Committee Discussion, where we talk about polls and not much else. Enjoy!
Committee News
Nothing important happened this month, but we did change a rule that allowed us to have more than twenty polls in the queue, so now we can stack up polls for as long as we like until the next committee takes over.

Analysis
- Mini NES: I thought that a lot of people would be up for this, but it looks like most people would rather spend their money on something else. To be honest, I'm not that surprised, seeing as NES emulators are widely accessible and also free to use. But some people are interested in what it has to offer, since 675 of them claim that they will buy it. I suppose the Mini NES is able to fit in pockets, unlike most PCs, and presumably they're either with it for the nostalgia or for first time experiences of classic games. Personally I've got my eyes on the Switch, so 'getting the Mini NES' is a little lower down on the To-Do list.
- My Nintendo: Okay, so it looks like most people haven't a clue what this is. I'm one of those people. Coming close behind that is a group of people claiming that it doesn't live up to its predecessor, Club Nintendo. I remember plugging in the code for a game and looking at all the prizes that I could get but could never be bothered to. I do recall one thing about it though; that program offered physical rewards like plush toys or stands. My Nintendo only seems to offer rewards on a digital scale (like discounts or My Nintendo coins), so I don't blame people who want the old loyalty program back.
- The Switch: We have this month's first majority! About 60% of the people really have hope for this one. Me too- the reveal finally happened, and loads of people are hyped. A console that offers the aspect of portability really gives it an advantage over other systems on the market, and Nintendo directed the appeal not towards families with youngsters, but towards the people that it works best with. I do agree with the people who want to see more news about it, however. A product's technical details may gather even more potential buyers, and the choice to delay stuff like that until two months before its release slightly puzzles me. Buuut I'm already sold on the concept, so the only thing that'll change my mind is some appalling information about it like "30 mins battery power" or "15 frames per second when not in dock".
- Wiki Visit Schedule: It looks like this site is pretty popular! I assume editors and fact-checkers are the ones who visit this place daily, and less active ones (like me) are the near-majority in making sure the place is still up and running. If you're reading this now, I guess it is. It's nice to see this little wiki get so much attention from the public- just under 2,000 votes were cast in that poll, which is about a 33% increase from that one on June 12th. It's also a 75% or more decrease from the June 19th poll, so obviously some of you aren't voting enough! Get back on the main page and cast some more votes!
Conclusion
Since you definitely enjoyed this absolutely riveting section, why don't you check out my other sections; counting this one, I made four this month! I should be paid for this level of work. Come back here next month and you'll be joined by an avid wiki contributor by the name of Baby Luigi (talk), where she'll take you through the shocking stories of drama and conflict that is the Poll Committee. I'm out!

Hello, readers! I'm your Spotlight manager and Pipe Plaza Director, Yoshi876. Welcome to Retro Feature, a section in which I delve deep into the archives to bring you the best blasts from the past. This time I bring you a section from an Aussie user: SKmarioman.
Skmarioman joined the wiki on 4 August 2010, and joined The 'Shroom in Issue XLVIII which was released on March 19, 2011. He would this section a further eight times before retiring. His final section was a special section for Issue XC which was released on September 20, 2010.
Anyway, you're not here to hear about the history of Skmarioman, so instead I'll just have you enjoy one of his Entertainment Section sections, more specifically the one from Issue LIII.
Hey everybody! It's SKmarioman! It's been a pretty big month already hasn't it? The anniversary, the awards show, the Brawl and Mafia games on the forums, it's been pretty big. The wiki has turned 6 years old, and I've been writing here for 6 months (that's six big things I've mentioned). So now, sit back, relax, and enjoy this month's section. This month, it's going to be one I found by searching "Mario Award" on Newgrounds, and it is Mario: Shell Trouble by Sunrie! Mario: Shell TroubleThere are 10 skits in this quick flash animation, as proven by the fact that it is only 2MB in size. Mario finds an empty Green Shell and decides to kick it so hard that it goes into orbit. But every time he does, there's something there to stop him (two of those times he actually likes what happened to stop him). In the first skit he kicks it speeding across the screen, where it flies into a Hammer Bro., killing it. In the next to skits, he almost kills Luigi and Toad with the shell, and Mario's happy about it. My favourite skit is the one pictured. As you can see this month's issue is very short, because I'm running low on my limited monthly internet access. Anyway, see ya next month! |
